Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe? 30 We set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein ravines to be paths so that they might be guided. 31 We made the sky above them as a well-guarded ceiling, but they have neglected the evidence (of Our existence) therein. 32 It is He who created night and day, the sun and the moon, revolving on its orbit. 33 And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal? 34 Every living being shall taste death and We shall subject you to ill and good by way of trial, and to Us shall all of you be eventually sent back. 35 And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who insults your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers. 36 Man is created of haste, I will show you My Ayat (torments, proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So ask Me not to hasten (them). 37 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 38 If they but knew - they who are bent on denying the truth - [that there will come] a time when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor from their backs, and will not find any succour! 39 It will come upon them unawares confounding them, and they will not be able to keep it back, nor will they be given respite. 40 Indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad SAW), but the scoffers were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock. 41
