The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
