Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 "Such is the will of your Lord," they replied. "He is the Wise, the All Knowing." 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46
