Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When a single blow is blown on the Horn, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
