Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 You are indeed much occupied during the day with the affairs of the world. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
