Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
