The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Bethink men that they shall be left alone because they say: we believe; and that they shall not be tempted? 2 We certainly tried those that were before them, and assuredly God knows those who speak truly, and assuredly He knows the liars. 3 Do those who do evil think that they will get the better of Us? How bad is the judgement that they make! 4 Whosoever hopeth for the meeting with Allah, then Allah's term is surely coming, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 5 He who strives does so for himself. Verily God is independent of the creatures of the world. 6 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We will indeed relieve their sins and reward them for the best of their deeds. 7 And upon man We ordained kindness towards parents; and if they strive to make you ascribe a partner with Me, about which you do not have any knowledge, then do not obey them; towards Me only is your return and I will tell you what you used to do. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 Some men there are who say, 'We believe in God,' but when such a man is hurt in God's cause, he makes the persecution of men as it were God's chastisement; then if help comes from thy Lord, he will say 'We were with you.' What, does not God know very well what is in the breasts of all beings? 10 God surely knows the believers, and He knows the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers: “Follow our way and we will carry the burden of your sins.” (They say so even though) they are not going to carry any part of their sins. Surely they are lying. 12 But they will surely carry their [own] burdens and [other] burdens along with their burdens, and they will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what they used to invent. 13
