The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All that is in the heavens and all that is on earth extols Allah's glory. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Wise. 1 O ye who believe! wherefore say ye that which ye do not? 2 Saying what you do not practice is odious to God. 3 God loves those who fight for His cause in battlefield formations firm as an unbreakable concrete wall. 4 And (remember) when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Why persecute ye me, when ye well know that I am Allah's messenger unto you? So when they went astray Allah sent their hearts astray. And Allah guideth not the evil-living folk. 5 And call to mind when Jesus, son of Mary, said: “O Children of Israel, I am Allah's Messenger to you, I verify the Torah which has come before me, and I give you the glad tiding of a Messenger who shall come after me, his name being Ahmad.” Yet when he came to them with Clear Signs they said: “This is sheer trickery.” 6 And who does greater evil than he who forges against God falsehood, when he is being called unto surrender? And God guides never the people of the evildoers. 7 They desire to extinguish with their mouths, the light of God; but God will perfect His light, though the unbelievers be averse. 8 He it is Who sent His Apostle with the guidance and the true religion, that He may make it overcome the religions, all of them, though the polytheists may be averse. 9
