The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
