The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 [an angel] endowed with surpassing power, who in time manifested himself in his true shape and nature, 6 being on the higher horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is Paradise. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
