The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And the House frequented, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
