Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a Garden on high, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
