Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
