The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man. 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
