Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
