The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
