The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
