And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 We rescued him and his people from the greatest affliction 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 78 Peace on Noah among all men. 79 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 80 he was one of Our believing worshipers. 81 Thereafter We caused the others to be drowned. 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 Is it false deities that you want to serve rather than Allah? 86 What, then, do you think of the Sustainer of all the worlds?" 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 and he said, 'Surely I am sick.' 89 But they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 Then he went quietly to the (temple of the deities) and said: “What is the matter with you, why do you not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" 92 Then he started striking them down with his right hand. 93 And (his people) came toward him, hastening. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 When Allah hath created you and what ye make? 96 They said: build for him a building and cast him into the flaming fire. 97 But whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We [frustrated their designs, and thus] brought them low? 98 And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, give me one of the righteous.' 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And when he attained the age of running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients. 102 Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face, 103 We called to him, "Abraham, 104 Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 So, We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 And We sent blessings upon him and Ishaq; and among their descendants – some who do good deeds, and some who clearly wrong themselves. 113
