The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
