The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
