The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
