The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
