And unto 'Aad We sent their brother Hud. He said: O my people! worship Allah; there is no god for you but He; ye are but fabricators. 50 I ask of you nothing in return for this [Message]. My recompense is with Him who has created me. Why do you not use your reason? 51 "Hence, O my people, ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins, and then turn towards Him in repentance - [whereupon] He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, and will add strength to your strength: only do not turn away [from me] as people lost in sin!" 52 They said: "O Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you. 53 All that we say is that some of our gods have smitten thee with evil. He said: verily I call Allah to witness, and bear ye witness, that I am quit of that which ye associate. 54 Besides Him, therefore scheme against me all together; then give me no respite: 55 I place my trust in God who is my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature that moves on the earth who is not held by the forelock firmly by Him. Verily the way of my Lord is straight. 56 "If ye turn away,- I (at least) have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people to succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. For my Lord hath care and watch over all things." 57 And when Our command came, We rescued Hud and the Muslims who were with him, by Our mercy; and We saved them from a severe punishment. 58 And such were 'Aad. They gainsaid the signs of their Lord, and disobeyed His apostles, and followed the bidding of any tyrant froward. 59 And they were overtaken by curse in this world and on the resurrection day; now surely Ad disbelieved in their Lord; now surely, away with Ad, the people of Hud. 60
