And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
