The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
