The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
