The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
