Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no caring friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
