The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On thrones, watching. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
