The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
