He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
