And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
