The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And your clothing purify 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
