The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
