When they cast their spell, they bewitched the eyes of the people and petrified them by conjuring up a great charm. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126
