The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
