The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 arise and give warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 thy robes purify 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
