The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
