The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 that hide, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
