The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
