1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
