So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
