The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
