The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 Lord of power and wisdom. So he acquired poise and balance, 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
