The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
