The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
