The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for those on the Right, 38
