and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, just for play. 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
