The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
