Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
